In 2022, our Dessert Time Machine took you on a sweet journey to the Future of Desserts. Beginning January 2025, we are jumping back on our Dessert Time Machine to head back in time to the 1980’s, when everything was so blindingly bright. Our all new Chef-led 1980’s culinary Sugar Science demonstration led by Denver’s own Willy Wonka, Chef Ian Kleinman, will take you on a totally tubular, head-freezing tasting adventure through some of our favorite confections & desserts from our childhood, served up with our special twist of molecular gastronomy.
In the 1980’s, we discovered the addictiveness of Pac-Man, and spent countless hours with the colorful challenge of the Rubik's cube, which perplexed many. But among all the inevitable changes in the world, there were delicious candy discoveries to be found, and of course some "totally radical" new candies. Learn about the schweet pop culture, technology & science discovered in the 80’s, and of course, the crazy candy and dessert creations from that decade - Nerds, Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, Jello Pudding Pops, Hostess Pudding Pies, FroYo, and more.
Watch & learn about the wicked science behind our cooking processes, techniques and the 80’s during the 30-minute demonstration while enjoying tasting our spin on the nostalgic classics.
Each ticket includes six effervescent treats, such as Really, Really Cold Cheetos, Nitro “Moon Rocks”, Chocolate “Pudding Pop” Jelly & Oreo Space Foam; your choice of liquid nitrogen ice cream sundae, and time in our black light room with glow in the dark sweets - for an awesome 45-minute Inventing Room experience. The menu of bubbling, smoking liquid nitrogen sundae choices include the Goonies Sundae, Duran Duran Sundae and our signature, award-winning Mexican Fried Ice Cream (vanilla ice cream rolled in fried cinnamon & sugar tortillas, house made butterscotch, double chocolate sauce and cinnamon whipped cream).
The experience, designed for all ages (from age two to 102), is limited to 16 guests total for each session to ensure each guest's enjoyment in our little dessert shop. This experience is perfect for date nights, family outings, sweet & science lovers of all ages or just to satisfy that sweet tooth.
Sugar Science - Back to the 80s will run through Spring 2025 on Thursdays - Sundays.
Please note, all ticket sales are final and non-transferrable to different times are dates. Your ticket is considered VOID after your ticket time passes. A ticket is required for anyone entering the dessert shop.
All of our treats are 100% nut-free and can accommodate gluten & dairy allergies - just please let us know upon arrival to the dessert shop. The Inventing Room Dessert Shop requires advance online ticket purchase and we cannot accommodate walk-in guests.
Looking for some private time at our dessert shop? Our private Sugar Science - Naughty & Nice demonstration is perfect for a birthday outing, employee outing or just to gather together with family and friends. While we do not offer birthday parties at the dessert shop, this is a wonderful dessert experience for a birthday celebration outing for all ages - just let us know it is a birthday celebration! For a private demonstration, simply purchase all 16 tickets for a time slot. We only have the dates and times available listed on our online shop.

TIPS FOR PURCHASING TICKETS -
- If you are attending with a group, purchase all tickets at once. Time slots sell out fast and could sell out as you are purchasing tickets.
- Please make sure you are selecting the correct date and time you wish to visit before completing ticket purchase. - For a private demonstration, simply purchase all 16 tickets to one time slot.
- If it is only allowing you to select/ purchase one ticket during a selected time slot, that means there is only one ticket left in that time slot.

- We highly recommend using a desktop computer or tablet for purchasing tickets, we have heard of some issues with using a phone to purchase tickets though SimpleTix.
